1840 1d grey-black (plate 1a) on an entire wrapper from Fauldshouse addressed to Edinburgh, tied by a double strike of the fluid magenta Maltese Cross of Renfrew and bearing on the front the straight line handstamp from the same inkpad. Dated on the reverse for May 19th 1840.
The addressee was Henry G. Dickson Esquire W.S. (Writer to the Signet). The address was 5 St Vincent street. His house was at 7 Fettes row, very close to his office
